Growing up I never understood food culture. For the longest time food was just the necessary fuel to keep me alive. I have a distinct memory about being excited when my brother told me that gum would stay in my stomach for 7 years. That way I could eat a bunch of gum once and not waste any more time eating.
After being exposed to some great food by some great people and marrying into a family who appreciated food on a much different level than I was used to I was a quick convert.
There is something meditative about the process of cooking (particularly baking). It's incredibly satisfying to create something from nothing. Sharing a good meal with friends and family is what I imagine heaven to be like.
This is a list of things I'd like to make.
