Hello, and welcome.
I am Wade Arave, I am a writer, educator, and creator. Ignoring the advice of my parents I pursued an education in theatre and film. After pivoting out of performance but remaining in education, I discovered that my “useless degree” was pretty valuable. I have since stood on too many soapboxes about the benefits of lateral education.
Six years ago I convinced some friends of mine to spend a long weekend in the woods to discuss the things I couldn’t find an honest outlet for: marriage, sex, fatherhood, death, power, faith, meaning, and purpose. Every year since, I somehow convince them to come back for again for another socratic dialogue.
There have been many inconsistent iterations of this blog. I started it to write about things I wished others were writing more about: masculinity, philosophy, and creativity. Most people read my writing in their email inbox by subscribing to my monthly email newsletter.
After growing up primarily in the Southwest I have settled with my family in the Pacific Northwest where I have fully embraced the lifestyle.
